Still Together

Size, medium, year

48 x 40 (diptych), Oil, acrylic and seashells on canvas, 2025

Description

In these diptych paintings, I explore the tension between our desire for connection and the instinct to protect ourselves. There is a contradiction in our longing for closeness while simultaneously withdrawing out of fear of vulnerability. We wish to be understood yet often choose silence, driven by a collective apprehension of genuine intimacy. These works reflect the struggle to seek connection amid self-protection, highlighting the barriers we construct to shield ourselves from a chaotic world. This self-imposed isolation can obscure the beauty and compassion available to us. Ultimately, we must confront how our quest for safety often prevents us from embracing meaningful relationships and healing.
