Bio

Olamide Damilare Faloore (b. 2000) is a Lagos-based visual artist and curator whose practice explores identity, transformation, and the emotional landscapes of emerging Black adulthood. Working primarily with oil painting, alongside mixed media and installation, his work draws deeply from Yoruba cultural symbolism, particularly the visual and philosophical language of masquerades. Faloore reinterprets the idea of the mask as a contemporary metaphor for becoming, examining the tensions between visibility and concealment, vulnerability and resilience, and individuality and collective experience. His paintings often merge figuration with abstraction, creating atmospheric spaces where masked figures, symbolic forms, and layered surfaces evoke the psychological and cultural dimensions and tension of modern life. Storytelling sits at the centre of his practice. Through his work, he reflects on the inner lives of young Black individuals navigating shifting social, cultural, and technological realities. His debut body of work, Un_Masqued (2024), introduced an ongoing investigation into selfhood, emotional consciousness, and personal transformation. This inquiry continues to expand through his evolving project On Becoming, a multidisciplinary series incorporating painting, installation, sculpture, and spatial interventions that transform into reflective, almost ritualistic visual spaces. Since completing his university education in 2024, Faloore has participated in a residency at KUTA Art Foundation and One Art Gallery in Lagos, where he currently serves as gallery manager. His work has been exhibited in group exhibitions, including GALARI (TMSI Initiative), ACA (2025), The Artists Commune (2024 & 2025), Resonance: 15 Truths (One Art Gallery, 2026), and +234 Art Fair 2026. Alongside his studio practice, Faloore is actively engaged in curatorial and cultural work that supports emerging artists and fosters dialogue within contemporary Nigerian art spaces.
